PROFILE:
After MPHS I went to work for Markite Corp. doing government sub contract work for the space program. In 1963 married Barbara Hazen from MPHS class of 1962. Our oldest son, Rich, was born in 1964.
Went to work for Ford Motor Co. in 1965, our second son, Doug, was born in 1969.
Started on the Oakland Police Dept. in 1971, our youngest son, Chris, was born in 1975. While with Oakland Police, attended William Paterson College graduating in 1981 with a BS in Criminal Justice. Retired from Oakland Police in 1996 and still reside in Oakland, N.J.
Worked several part time jobs since retirement one being with R&R Truck Maintenance, the owner of the company being Rich Elsasser, also from our class. About 10 years ago went back to music and am now playing sax in 4 groups: 2 concert bands and 2 quartets. I play alto sax, tenor sax, soprano sax, and clarinet.
28. ELSASSER, Rich-- now deceased
Rich died March 4, 2013; he lived in Montgomery, NY, and was a small arms repairman at West Point, NY. He passed away at home. The son of Robert and Virginia Elsasser, he was born on June 6, 1943 in Paterson, NJ. Rich had served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Ridgefield Park Elks and the Cahoonzie Hunting & Fishing Club.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, at home; a daughter, Karen, and her husband, Patrick Masterson of Montgomery, NY; two sisters: Arlene Wayts of Ridgewood, NJ and Virginia Dixon of Orlando, FL. Rich had three grandsons: Garrett, Griffin and Gavin; and one granddaughter: Ashlynne.
